Announcement of the Overseas Scholarship Program (Deadline: July 17, 2026)

Dear all members,

 

It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of the Overseas Scholarship Program by the Hong Kong Society of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. This initiative is designed to support the professional development of our members through international exposure and knowledge exchange in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.

 

Scholarship Overview

The Overseas Scholarship aims to enhance the surgical knowledge and skills of our members by facilitating participation in educational activities outside of Hong Kong SAR, China. Successful applicants will be awarded financial support for travel, accommodation, and training fees, up to a maximum of HK$15,000.

 

Key Dates

  • Application Deadline: July 17, 2026

  • Notification of Results: August 2026

 

Application Requirements

Interested candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Completed Application Form

  2. Brief Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  3. Letters of recommendation from one professional referee in the field

  4. Information regarding proposed overseas activities

 

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated professional achievements and contributions to HBP surgery

  • Potential for future contributions to the profession

  • A clear plan outlining the application of acquired knowledge and skills in practice

  • Recommendations from peers or mentors

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have not previously received this scholarship.

 

Important Guidelines

Please note the following:

  • All applications must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late submissions will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.

  • Recipients will be required to submit a post-training report and present their experiences at our society meetings.

  • Hong Kong Society of Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery (HKSHBP) reserves the right to change the eligibility criteria, modify award amounts, or withdraw the Scholarship entirely at any time. In case of any disagreement/dispute, HKSHBP decision is final.
